Most of the drug testing in the work place is drug specific and drug metabolite specific. Most of the commonly used drugs are chemically different from the other metabolites. Therefore, many employees that tests positive cannot whine away reporting that the false positive is due to interfering substances. Even if there are interfering substances there are unique methods to arrive at the metabolite behind the positive result by high level testing.
