The Propoxyphene (PPX) Drug Test Card uses a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay to detect Propoxyphene and Norpropoxyphene in human urine. Simply dip the absorbent end of the test card into the urine specimen for the recommended time, then place it on a clean, flat surface while the reaction develops. Results are typically available within 5 minutes.
This test provides a preliminary analytical result only. Any preliminary positive result should be confirmed using a laboratory confirmation method such as Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) or Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Propoxyphene (PPX) is a synthetic opioid analgesic that was previously prescribed to relieve mild to moderate pain. It works by binding to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord, helping to reduce the perception of pain. Propoxyphene is also metabolized into Norpropoxyphene, which can be detected in urine along with the parent drug.
Due to concerns over serious side effects, including heart rhythm abnormalities and the risk of fatal overdose, Propoxyphene has been withdrawn from the market in several countries, including the United States. However, screening for Propoxyphene remains important in toxicology, forensic investigations, workplace drug testing, and the evaluation of older prescriptions or stored medications.
The Propoxyphene (PPX) Drug Test Card is designed to detect Propoxyphene and its primary metabolite, Norpropoxyphene, in human urine at a 300 ng/mL screening cutoff, providing fast and reliable preliminary screening results.
Before its withdrawal from many markets, Propoxyphene was commonly prescribed for the treatment of:
Mild to moderate pain
Chronic musculoskeletal pain
Post-surgical pain management
Pain associated with injuries
Short-term pain relief when non-opioid medications were ineffective
Propoxyphene was marketed under several brand names and was sometimes combined with acetaminophen to improve pain relief. Because of safety concerns, healthcare providers now generally prescribe safer alternative pain medications.
Like other opioid medications, Propoxyphene has the potential for misuse and dependence. Individuals may misuse the drug for its pain-relieving and sedative effects or take higher doses than prescribed. Excessive use significantly increases the risk of serious side effects and overdose.
Long-term misuse or abuse may lead to:
Physical dependence
Drug tolerance
Drowsiness and sedation
Dizziness
Confusion
Slowed breathing (respiratory depression)
Heart rhythm abnormalities
Increased risk of overdose
Because of these risks, Propoxyphene screening is commonly included in workplace drug testing, rehabilitation programs, healthcare facilities, forensic investigations, and toxicology testing.

Propoxyphene is typically detectable in urine for 2–4 days after use. Detection times may vary depending on dosage, frequency of use, metabolism, and overall health.
The Propoxyphene (PPX) Drug Test Card provides a fast, accurate, and convenient solution for detecting Propoxyphene and its primary metabolite, Norpropoxyphene, in human urine. Featuring a 300 ng/mL screening cutoff, a simple dip-and-read procedure, and results available in approximately 5 minutes, it is ideal for workplace drug screening, healthcare facilities, rehabilitation programs, forensic investigations, and home testing. Each test card is individually packaged for single-use convenience and delivers reliable preliminary screening results without requiring specialized laboratory equipment. As with all rapid immunoassay drug screening devices, any preliminary positive result should be confirmed using Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) or Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) before clinical, legal, or employment decisions are made.
The Propoxyphene (PPX) Drug Test Card is a rapid, one-step urine drug screening test designed for the qualitative detection of Propoxyphene (PPX) and its primary metabolite, Norpropoxyphene, in human urine. Using a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay, the test provides reliable preliminary screening results at a 300 ng/mL cutoff concentration without requiring specialized laboratory equipment.
This easy-to-use single-panel drug test features a simple dip-and-read procedure and delivers accurate preliminary results in approximately 5 minutes. The Propoxyphene Drug Test Card is suitable for workplace drug testing, healthcare facilities, rehabilitation centers, pain management clinics, law enforcement agencies, and home drug screening.
Each box contains 25 individually packaged test cards for convenient single-use urine drug testing.

Two colored lines appear—one in the Control (C) region and one in the Test (T) region. Even a faint line in the Test (T) region should be interpreted as a negative result.
Only one colored line appears in the Control (C) region, while no line appears in the Test (T) region. This indicates that Propoxyphene and/or its primary metabolite, Norpropoxyphene, may be present at or above the 300 ng/mL screening cutoff. Any preliminary positive result should be confirmed using Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) or Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
If no colored line appears in the Control (C) region, the test is invalid, regardless of whether a Test line appears. Repeat the test using a new test card.
